This website forms part of PRAU’s numerous platforms utilized to share industry information, exchange views, as well as impart knowledge and skills. As you navigate the site, it is my hope that you get better appreciation of the Public Relations field and our roles in the different sectors we serve.
PRAU is an umbrella organisation that brings together all public relations professionals in Uganda, practicing in both in the public and private sectors. The Association was founded 46 years ago, and is well-organised and structured under four organs: the AGM, the Governing Council (GC), Working Committees and an Independent Electoral Commission.
The Patron of PRAU is usually the sitting Cabinet Minister of Uganda for Information Communication Technology and National Guidance, the current one being Hon. Dr Chris Baryomunsi.
The AGM is the supreme organ of the association while the Governing Council is the top management organ, which comprises: the President; Vice President; Secretary General; Treasurer; Deputy Secretary General; Director, Programmes; Director, Public Relations Affairs; Director, Discipline; and two student representatives.
The PRAU Secretariat is currently housed at Kamwokya and has an Administrator, Brenda Nampijja and Mr Moses Kabeera, the Association Accountant.
We are also regionally and globally networked with the following associations: the East African Public Relations Association (EAPRA), the African Public Relations Association (APRA), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.
PRAU operates on the following pillars: training and up-skilling programmes for PR professionals, mentorship, health and sanitation, community development, women empowerment, media engagement and so on.
PRAU provides a rich network. Our membership has the most experienced PR communication experts in the country and abroad. We have members that have handled communication in the following areas: advocacy, public health, trade, marketing, education, digital media, poverty reduction etc.
