The Public Relations Association of Uganda continues to cement its thought leadership in shaping the future of communication and business. This was evident as the PRAU President, Irene Nakasiita, took center stage at the 16th Annual Marketers and International Business Week held at Makerere University Business School, contributing to a high-level conversation on the theme “Next Gen Marketplace.”

Addressing a dynamic audience of aspiring marketers, business leaders, and innovators, she delivered a compelling message anchored in one core principle: trust is the currency of the future marketplace. She challenged students to intentionally build credibility, emphasizing that sustainable success is rooted in the confidence others place in your personal and professional brand.

From a strategic positioning standpoint, she cautioned against the trap of trying to be everything to everyone. Instead, she encouraged clarity of purpose: identify your strengths, refine your niche, and invest in professionalism. “When you focus, you build mastery. When you build mastery, you build authority,” she noted, underscoring a critical pillar in brand differentiation.

Her remarks on reputation resonated strongly within the context of today’s hyper-connected digital economy. She defined reputation not as self-proclaimed identity, but as a lived and shared experience:
“Reputation isn’t what you say about yourself; it’s what people consistently experience, remember, and share about you.”

In a marketplace driven by perception and engagement, she emphasized that every action communicates, from online presence to offline conduct. Her call to action was clear:

  • Build your reputation with intention
  • Protect it with integrity
  • Grow it with trust

 

This engagement reflects PRAU’s broader mission at 50, to champion ethical communication, nurture professional excellence, and prepare the next generation to thrive in a competitive, reputation-driven global market.

As the communications landscape evolves, PRAU remains at the forefront, ensuring that professionals are not only visible, but credible, consistent, and trusted.
