As the Public Relations Association of Uganda celebrates 50 years of shaping the communications profession in Uganda, the association today strengthened its commitment to nurturing the next generation of public relations professionals through a vibrant engagement with Year Three students at Makerere University.

The interactive session was facilitated by PRAU representatives, including Tenywa Ernest Rodney, Fiona Namugere, and Roland Sseruyima.
The team was warmly introduced by Yasmin Katushabe, who welcomed the students to an insightful session focused on career growth, professional identity, and industry readiness.
Building Bridges for Tomorrow’s Professionals

Speaking on behalf of the Secretariat, Roland Sseruyima shared the background and journey of PRAU over the last five decades, highlighting its role in promoting excellence, ethics, networking, and professional development in Uganda’s communications sector.
He encouraged students to join PRAU as a strategic solution to some of the challenges they raised, including:
- Limited professional connections and networking opportunities
- Difficulty accessing quality internship and workplace experience
- Low pay and limited career growth opportunities
He emphasized that joining PRAU gives students access to a powerful network of practicing PR professionals who can mentor, guide, and open doors for them as they transition into the profession.
A Testimony of Opportunity

Tenywa Ernest Rodney shared his personal journey of joining PRAU, candidly speaking about the challenges he overcame to become a member. He noted that the decision transformed his professional path through exposure, learning opportunities, and access to job openings regularly shared within PRAU platforms.
His testimony inspired many students to view membership as an investment in their future.
Your Future Starts Now

Fiona Namugere guided students through the membership process, explaining eligibility requirements and the benefits of belonging to Uganda’s leading professional PR body.
She urged the students to take charge of their future early by joining PRAU and positioning themselves for success in a competitive communications landscape.
The Journey Begins

At the close of the session, students were handed membership forms to begin their journey toward professional excellence, leadership, and meaningful industry connections.
