The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), represented by President Irene Nakasiita and the Secretariat team (Roland Sseruyima and Fiona Namugere) proudly awarded Mr. Alinda Thomas Lumari as the Outstanding Public Relations Student for the year 2025 during the 31st Graduation Ceremony of Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi, under the Department of Journalism and Communication.

This prestigious recognition celebrates excellence, dedication, and academic distinction among emerging communication professionals. Mr. Lumari’s remarkable performance, leadership, and commitment to the principles of ethical and strategic communication earned him this year’s accolade.

Beyond the award, Mr. Lumari will receive mentorship from senior PRAU members, a one-year membership to the Association, and the opportunity to participate in the upcoming 9th PRAU Excellence Awards, Uganda’s premier platform celebrating outstanding PR practice and innovation.

Ms. Irene Nakasiita, PRAU President, congratulated Mr. Lumari for his exemplary achievement and encouraged all communication students to embrace professionalism and continuous learning.

PRAU President Represents Uganda’s PR Fraternity at the Launch of Uganda Microfinance Support Centre’s Bold New Strategic Plan

The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) was proudly represented by its President, Ms. Irene Nakasiita, at the official launch of the Uganda Microfinance Support Centre’s Strategic Plan 2025/2026–2029/2030, a transformative roadmap aimed at accelerating financial inclusion and sustainable development across the country.

The high-profile event, presided over by the Hon. Matia Kasaija, Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, convened distinguished leaders and stakeholders from Uganda’s financial ecosystem, all united by a shared vision to empower communities through access to affordable credit and grant financing.

The newly unveiled strategic plan sets forth an ambitious agenda to redefine Uganda’s microfinance landscape, with key highlights including:

Creation of 1.2 million jobs across the country
Extension of tailored financial services to over 9,000 clients
Growth and strengthening of 2,824 Emyooga SACCOs to empower grassroots entrepreneurship
Impacting over 8 million Ugandans through inclusive finance and empowerment initiatives

Speaking at the sidelines of the event, PRAU President Irene Nakasiita commended the Uganda Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) for its visionary approach and reaffirmed PRAU’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote communication for development and strategic partnerships that drive social and economic progress.

“As communication professionals, we celebrate institutions like MSC that are intentional about impact. This strategic plan demonstrates the power of purpose-driven communication in shaping Uganda’s development narrative,” she noted.

PRAU President Irene Nakasiita Appointed to the 2026 World Public Relations Forum Continental Advisory Committee

The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) proudly announces the appointment of its President, Ms. Irene Nakasiita, to the Continental Advisory Committee (CAC) for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), to be held in Abuja, Nigeria.

The appointment, made by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in partnership with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, recognizes Ms. Nakasiita’s distinguished leadership and her unwavering contribution to advancing the practice of public relations in Uganda and across the African continent.

The Continental Advisory Committee serves as a Pan-African strategic body mandated to provide guidance and oversight to the Forum’s National Planning Committee. Its role is to ensure that the 2026 WPRF becomes a historic convergence of communication thought leaders, innovators, and policymakers, amplifying Africa’s voice on the global PR stage.

Championing PR Excellence Across Africa

Ms. Nakasiita joins a high-level cohort of communication leaders from across Africa, including presidents of national PR associations, Global Alliance board members, and heads of strategic communication institutions.

“I thank the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations together with the Global Alliance for this great opportunity to serve and champion PR excellence, not only in Uganda but across the region,” said Ms. Nakasiita.

“This platform provides a unique opportunity for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and benchmarking as we continue to advance the practice of public relations in Uganda. It also allows PRAU to connect with peers shaping positive narratives for their organizations and for our continent at large,” she added.

As a member of the CAC, Ms. Nakasiita will play a pivotal role in program design, stakeholder engagement, and continental mobilization for the Forum — ensuring that African narratives, innovations, and communication challenges are effectively represented in global conversations on reputation management and strategic communication.

In an official communication dated October 6, 2025, Dr. Ike Neliaku, President and Chairman of Council at NIPR, commended Ms. Nakasiita’s appointment as “a reflection of her professional excellence, visionary leadership, and significant contributions to the growth of public relations across Africa.”

The inauguration of the Continental Advisory Committee is scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. (WAT), to be officiated by Mr. Arik Karani, President of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), alongside Madam Irene Lungu Chipili, Chairperson of the Africa Regional Council of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.

The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has once again sealed a strategic partnership with Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) for the much-anticipated 2025 PRAU Run slated for Friday, 20th June 2025.

The announcement was made at Nile Breweries’ offices in Luzira, Portbell Road, where both organizations reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting wellness, professional growth, and community impact.

Speaking on behalf of Nile Breweries, Corporate Affairs Manager Emmanuel Njuki applauded the long-standing collaboration between NBL and PRAU. He shared a brief background of Nile Breweries’ role in championing sustainability, community health, and youth empowerment.
